"Genoemd naar Franz Peter Schubert (1797 - 1828), een Oostenrijkse componist. Schubert kreeg al op jonge leeftijd les in zang, viool, piano en orgel. Op zijn elfde werd hij als 'Sänger-knabe' opgenomen in de Weense hofkapel. Op zijn twaalfde was hij eerste violist en plaatsvervangend dirigent van het huisorkest van het Stadtkonvikt. Vanaf zijn dertiende jaar zijn er composities van hem bekend. Waarschijnlijk om de dienstplicht te ontduiken werd Schubert in 1813 hulponderwijzer. Vanaf 1818 wijdde zich volledig aan de muziek. Hij was een veelzijdige en productieve componist, die 13 opera's, missen, symfonieën, kamermuziek, pianowerken en meer dan 600 liederen schreef. Schubert profiteerde nauwelijks van zijn succes; hij miste een zakelijke aanleg en bracht het grootste deel van zijn leven in betrekkelijke armoede door."@nl |
