"Genoemd naar Ludovicus Adrianus (Ludo) Bleys (1906 - 1945), een Nederlandse rooms-katholieke geestelijke en verzetsstrijder in de Tweede Wereldoorlog. Bleys was pater in het klooster van de Kapel in 't Zand. Tijdens de oorlog was hij zeer actief in het verzet; zo was hij één van de oprichters van de Landelijke Organisatie voor hulp aan Onderduikers in zijn woonplaats Roermond. Zijn verzetsnaam was 'Lodewijk'. Na de oorlog trok hij het land door om over de achtergronden van het verzet te spreken. Op weg naar een spreekbeurt verongelukte hij bij Gorinchem door een losgelopen voorwiel van zijn jeep. Deze was in onderhoud bij een garage in Utrecht waar een aantal voorwaardelijk vrijgelaten NSB'ers werkten, die vertelden dat zij heel simpel een auto-ongeluk konden arrangeren. Of er daadwerkelijk sabotage is gepleegd is nooit opgehelderd. In 1946 werd aan Bleys postuum het Verzetskruis 1940-1945 toegekend."@nl |
