"Genoemd naar Johannes Post (1906 - 1944), een Nederlandse verzetsstrijder in de Tweede Wereldoorlog. Post was landbouwer in het Drentse Nieuwlande en wethouder in Oosterhesselen. Hij liet zijn bedrijf in de steek om zich geheel te wijden aan het verzet. Tot 1942 was hij betrokken bij geweldloze verzetsdaden zoals het rondbrengen van illegale lectuur, het vergaren van distributiebonnen, het vervalsen van persoonsbewijzen en het onderbrengen van Joodse onderduikers. In 1943 ging hij over tot gewapend verzet. Hij voerde overvallen op distributiekantoren uit en werd lid van de top van de Landelijke Knokploegen. Post werd gearresteerd na de door verraad mislukte overval op het Huis van Bewaring in Amsterdam in juni 1944. Op 16 juli 1944 werd hij gefusilleerd in de duinen bij Overveen. In 1946 werd aan Post postuum het Verzetskruis 1940-1945 toegekend."@nl |
