schema:text "The memorial exhibition of the architect Josef Gočár, which was held two years after his death. Gočár (1880-1945) was one of the driving forces of Czech cubist architecture and design, evolving eventually into functionalism after 1930. Czech cubism was a unique development of modern architecture. From 1908 until 1922 it offered the Czechs a national architecture specific to their cultural traditions in a modernist, experimental setting. His cubist work included furniture and interior design as well with many original designs. He designed the Czech Pavilion for the 1925 Paris Exposition, and received prestigious commissions throughout his career. Gočár was also a distinguished teacher. This catalog lists his entire oeuvre and his collaborative architects, with photos of some of his most significant contributions."--Dealer's catalog (Michael Fagan).
