| schema:text | First and only edition of this chronological biography of the royal painters to the French King, from Charles Le Brun (1619-90) to François Lemoyne (1688-1737). The volume contains original research by its author, the engraver Lépicié, and also biographies written by Desportes, Watelet and Charles Coypel. The introduction contains a long note on the Italian royal painters to the French King before Le Brun; the final chapter is devoted to a detailed account of the frescos painted at the Banque Royal by Pellegrini. The book was published under the auspices of the Académie Royal de Peinture et Sculpture. |
