schema:abstract ""For 130 years, Paris has been a major centre of master printmaking and the original print. Artists like Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso and Marc Chagall all created lithographs, etchings or woodcuts in the city. These prints allowed them to reach a wider audience than with their paintings, and some of the most notable achievements in this field were artist's books containing original prints. Drawing from the Museum Folkwang's rich collection of graphic art, this book presents outstanding Paris-made portfolios and artist's books, including Jazz by Henri Matisse, La Tauromaquia by Pablo Picasso, A toute épreuve by Joan Miró and Daphnis et Chloé by Marc Chagall. This volume also features a selection of 19th-century precursors to this Modernist tradition, as well as examples of contemporary printmaking, among them prints by Jim Dine and David Lynch."-- On back of cover."@en
