By taking colour as its theme, this exhibition aims to place these works in the context in which they were created: research, experimentation, trial and error, imitation and adaptation that together led to the development of new colours. The investigations carried out a century later at the Sèvres Manufactory to discover the secrets of Chinese colours were an echo of that research.
