They include handwritten entries of Archduke Ferdinand's II guests, whom he welcomed to Schloss Ambras with a special ritual: upon their visit, men and women alike received a large goblet of wine which they were required to empty in one draw. After passing the drinking test, they were admitted to the sanctuary of Bacchus, the god of wine, and finally contributed an epigram to the drinking book." |
