The valuable collection of gallery and cabinet pictures & rare portraits by masters of the Italian, Dutch and Flemish schools, formed many years ago by Lumley Arnold Esq. particular mention of which is made in Baker's History of Northamptonshire... also the extensive and valuable library of books, containing upwards of 5000 volumes, including a fine collection of works on topography, natural history, numismatics, Black Letter Chronicles and early English books. The library is also descibed by Baker as being one of he choisest private collections of British topography and natural history in the Kingdomcidoc:E7_Activity
