"Antonio Donato departs from The Hague in the horse-drawn barge together with Suriano; the barge follows the canal, passing Delft and finally arriving in Rotterdam. He lodges at the inn 'del Tonello' [the Barrel], where he is visited by city officials. He comments on the fact that Rotterdam partook in the production of recently sent ships to Venice. He embarks the 'golden ship of the States General' and describes it, including its gilded interior and ornaments. He arrives in Dordrecht. City officials show him their stocks in ammunition and artillery, and after take Donato and his family to a noble establishment for dinner and drinks. Donato describes the city, and notes the place were the horses, ropes, wagons, clothes and barges are stored before boarding a ship."
