"Near Amsterdam, Haller continues describing David de Pinto's garden and its birdhouse. During his visit, a yacht arrives with women in it. He mentions the nearby village of Ouwerkerk, as well as Sparndam, the dam between the IJ and the Haarlemmermeer being repaired and a castle. He also mentions Zaandam, with its windmills and shipyards. He then describes Haarlem and recalls visiting Levinus Vincent, a textile merchant, and his cabinet of curiosities. Vincent offers him a catalogue for three guilders, but Haller finds it too expensive."
