"The Uffenbach brothers have decided to depart from Amsterdam soon. Uffenbach notes the scholars he did not meet: Surenhusen, Hochstraaten, Comelyn and Dirck. He mentions not having visited the following public buildings mentioned by Benthem (vol. I, p. 58), and that he had seen these already in 1705: Weeshuis, Spinhuis, Oost-Indisch Huis, West-Indisch Huis, Admiraliteit and Hortus Botanicus. He would have liked to visit Zaandam to see the papermills, the invention of making paper from old rags and meet the farner Kalf. Uffenbach mentions that music houses are commonly known as "Mennisten bruiloft" [Mennonist Wedding]. He comments on play- and whorehouses."
