"The Uffenbach brothers are visiting the clockmaker Timothee Pastre de Nismes in Amsterdam. Uffenbach is describing one of his inventions: a clock with a painting with all sorts of moving figures. The clockmaker also makes a type of rifle [Windbüchse] and wax fruits. The next morning the brothers visit Balthasar Scheid from Strasbourg to see his collection of shells. Uffenbach describes them as without order and unpolished."
