"In Amsterdam, the Uffenbach brothers visit the traveler Cornelis de Bruijn. Uffenbach describes his drawings made with ink and waterpaint after life, and comments on his drawing of the ruins of Persepolis. De Bruijn tells them he had carved out several fragments, and sold them to the Duke of Wolfenbuttel, mayor Witsen and other liefhebbers. Uffenbach comments on the strange characters in the inscriptions, and how Dutch expert Reland and foreign experts have been unable to decipher them."
