"On July 30, Müller arrives in Amsterdam and expresses his enthusiasm at what he sees. He is taken in at a German man's place, and the latter guides him around for several days. Müller appreciates his company and guidance. He is impressed as he sees the harbour and describes the beauty of the houses and the cleanliness of the streets, which he attributes to the canals, as well as the many canals and bridges. He is impressed at how safe the streets are, but notes that they are always very crowded because of how populated Amsterdam is."
