"Uffenbach is visiting the paper-cut artist Johanna Koerten in Amsterdam. Uffenbach mentions she has 32 pieces ready, among which new ones since his last visit, including several portraits. He comments on her production method. He compares her best works with those he saw in Rotterdam, and favours the latter. Koerten's best work is according to Uffenbach a flower piece with the words Vita nostra ut flos. The brothers then visit the porcellain merchant De Roede. He shows them many different objects, including statues, drawings made in the Dutch East Indies and Japan, antique cut stones and deers made from bird feathers."
