sdo:abstract "The Uffenbach brothers depart Leiden for Leiderdorp, to visit the eldest son of the so-called "Philosophical Smith" named Jacob van Brim to see his production of parabolic glass. This was a mistake: he was a clockmaker. His brother Nicolaes von Brim was a glass grinder, who worked in Leiden on the Rapenburg. The Uffenbach brothers visit him on the way back, but he had nothing to show them. The next day the brothers return to The Hague. In The Hague, they visit Jean Aymon who had fled to The Hague and was lodging at the court. Uffenbach comments on him having stolen and mutilated books in the royal library of France."
