"The brothers are in The Hague, visiting the Schilderkamer or Academy of Painters. In the large room, Uffenbach informs us about the painters of the ceiling piece: the central and largest part was by Audyns [Doudijns] and the other parts by Meudens [Mytens], Terwesten, Verschuur [van den Schuer] and Duval. Uffenbach witnesses [Mattheus] Terwesten using this large room to paint a ceiling piece. Uffenbach informs us that his brother [Augustinus I] is the director of the Painters Academy in Berlin. Uffenbach comments on other art objects in the room, including paintings, life-size plaster-casts and a bust of Christiaan Huygens. The small room was furnished with paintings too, including a flower piece by Rachel Ruysch. Uffenbach informs us that Ruysch was related to the famous doctor, was married to the portrait painter Pool in Amsterdam, and was now painting exclusively for the Elector Palatine."
