sdo:abstract "The Uffenbach brothers are in a bookshop in The Hague with Madame du Noyer, who was writing a French letter to a scholar in Amsterdam in which she defended passages from her memoires. That evening, the Uffenbach brothers visit the opera Issé. The next day they attempt to visit "Knoch", but he was not home. The day after, Uffenbach buys three diamants for his sister for 200 guilders. They visit the garden of the innkeeper; his son Conrad Ruppel was a flower-painter, and used these flowers in his works. He shows the brothers six paintings, and informs them that he had made one for Prince Eugenius for 100 ducats. He showed them also a work by "Mignon from Geneve", and tells them about his life: Mignon arrived very poor in Utrecht and worked there for another master for many years."
