"The Uffenbach brothers are visiting De la Faille in Delft. They discuss the use of asbestos to make cloth. Van Beuningen had informed Uffenbach that in Italy they make handkerchiefs of this stone, which will not burn when they are thrown in the fire. De la Faille shows them numerous art objects of different materials, including ivory flowers. He informs us that De la Faille had swan-feathers in each box of shells, and explains the reason."
