"The Uffenbach brothers are visiting De la Faille in Delft. Uffenbach describes two hands in his collection that he believes to be by a mermaid or seacreature. De la Faille shows them drawers full with art objects, made from ivory, agate, "lapide Nephritico" and other materials. He shows them a rosary bought in Italy and a piece of asbestos stone. They discuss the use of asbestos to make cloth, and Uffenbach refers to the source of Panciroli with commentary by Salmuth."
