They had an appointment in the afternoon with preacher Von Arckel, but they were a bit late and he had already left. The brothers then visit several bookstores. The next morning they visit paper-cut artist Elisabeth Rijberg. Uffenbach notes a Dutch and French inscription about her work at the door. Rijberg had only 11 pieces to show, framed in black frames and covered with glass. Uffenbach recalls how he had seen most of them during a visit in 1705, except for two new ones that she had made in 1709: one a view on the beach and city of Scheveningen and the other a depiction of herring fishery. Uffenbach praises and describes her work." |
