"On his first afternoon in Amsterdam, Uffenbach visits the show 'De Mode' in the Amsterdamse Schouburg. He praises the actors, and claims that they speak so clear that even visitors with minor knowledge of the Dutch language are able to follow it when they buy the booklet, which is available for several stuivers in the Schouwburg. He praises the dancing in the fourth act and the singing in the last, but criticizes the rest of the music. The next day, the Uffenbach brothers visit "Mr. Hofham" and his garden in the Plantage, where they also have dinner."
