He continues to record the inscription in Latin on the monument that commemorates the construction of the dike. They visit the pastures around the city. They also see the city walls, and Uffenbach comments that Marperger noted incorrect that it was strongly fortified. There are no trees on the walls as commonly found in the Dutch Republic; because of the strong seawind and the concentration of salty water in the ground."
