Still searching for employment, he leaves Delft for Rotterdam, which he starts describing, mentioning the flourishing trade and the harbour, as well as the bank, the city hall and the arsenal. He also notes that the glass factory is worth seeing. He then moves on to a description of the statue of Erasmus."
