sdo:abstract "Lutum sapientiae [clay of wisdom], that is clay with which one rub the glasses so that they do not burst from the fire; do it like this: Take good clay oven, put it in a bowl. pour wine mixed with horse manure; add long straw and flax straw until everything becomes like a thick mush. You use it to smear a glass. Let it dry in the shade. But you should always be careful not to use any clay other than oven clay for this lutum sapientiae; You shouldn't add the clay from which the pots are made. Always add salt to prevent it from cracking."
