sdo:abstract "Litmus oder Turnus [Tournesol ?]. This is a very fine, delicate violet-blue color, which does not tolerate any additives, neither from water nor from other soft things [binding agents] except pure spring water, which is its temperature. Therefore, if you want to prepare it, put a block [litmus] in a clean bowl (?) pour pure spting water over it and let it soak. With it you can set off and shade all blue colors well. But you shouldn't add gum, glue or alum to it, then it will fall off immediately. But if you want to make more, add nice lime white, it will gladly accept it. It comes from Flanders and is therefore called Pers de Flandre in French."
