| sdo:abstract | "Cornelis Meesz, representing Peter Eewoutsz, burgher and merchant of Antwerp, with consent of the Leiden court, lays claim to the 459 Antwerp measures of rye in the Onser Liever Vrouwen hospital, belonging to Jan Jansz, goldsmith, burgher of this city, stating that the rye was bought by the defendant from him, the plaintiff, for £ XXV, at a rate of 11 1/2 stuvers a quarter, demanding first full payment of the £ XXV; further, the defendant sold the plaintiff 36 half-vats of Delft butter, to be delivered on the quai at Antwerp, to be delivered in three portions, as specified, each vat at 32 schellingen 6 denarii, minus whatever was still owed for the rye. Because there is reason to suspect Jan Jansz might flee, the plaintiff obtained permission to sequester the rye. The plaintiff demands that Jan Jansz be required to provide properly guaranteed bonds for the delivery of the butter, and that the rye be declared salable for recovery of £ 40, plus current and future costs." |
