"David Egbertsz, representing the examiners and officers of the St. Joseph’s guild in Leiden’s Pieterskerk, sues Oth Baerntsz, cabinetmaker, accusing him of carrying out his craft without having done his masterpiece or paid his fees. The plaintiff demands that the defendant cease his activity as a cabinetmaker and be fined 50 Karolus guldens, plus costs. After delay, on 15 February, the magistrates ordered the plaintiffs to accept Jan van Adrichem as guarantor for Oth Baerntsz. After various exchanges, on 26 March, Jan van Adrichem made a sworn statement that Oth Baerntsz was his employee. In consequence, Oth Baerntsz was declared not liable for the original demand."
