"Master Jan vander Biest sues the Supervisors of Music of the Pieterskerk in Leiden, namely Pieter Heynricxz Buys, Claes Aelwynsz, Master Frans Adriaensz, and Dirck Fransz Goel, claiming that on 23 November 1535, the defendants for themselves and their successors hired van der Biest to be cantor and promised him 57 gold Karolus guldens per year, to be paid monthly in installments. The defendants are behind by two months, amounting to 9 Karolus guldens and 10 stuvers, besides certain half-stuvers they owe for van der Biest’s Sunday and Holy Day wages; the plaintiff demands payment plus legal costs. On 16 October the case was postponed another eight days."
