    ns1:abstract "\"The National Museum of China is located on the east side of Tiananmen Square, in the heart of Beijing. With a total of 200,000 square meters and 48 exhibition halls, it is the world's largest museum housed in a single building, and it is home to the largest collection of Chinese cultural relics in a single museum, with over 1 million pieces in its permanent collection. This book includes a selection of the finest artifacts housed in The National Museum of China over the past century. These cultural relics include China's best bronzeware, Buddhist statues, porcelain, furniture and lacquerware, jade, coins, gold and silver items, stone carvings, silk fabrics, ancient texts, and other items rooted in China's long history, all laid out in chronological order to provide a convenient overview.         "\"This book contains many of the finest ceramics in the museum's collection, among which the celadon wine vessel covered with a lotus design can be regarded as an exquisite example of early celadon. Also exceptional are the blue and white porcelain of the Yue kilns of the Tang Dynasty, and the white porcelain of the Xing kilns. The black and tri-color-glazed pottery horse figurine and the tri-colored camel figurine depicting musicians and dancers are leading examples of the tri-color technique. The famous kilns of the Song Dynasty are all represented here, such as the flawless white bowl with a lotus and lotus pattern from the cauldron kiln, the rose-purple-glazed begonia-style flower pot from the Jun kiln, the pink and blue-glazed sunflower-valley wash from the Guan kiln, and the sunflower-valley dish with its cracked ice from the Ge kiln. Also represented are the Yuan Dynasty, the Yongle and Xuande (I403-1435) periods of the Ming Dynasty, and the Kangxi, Yongzheng, and Qianlong eras (I662-1796) of the Qing Dynasty. The Ming and Qing Dynasties were full of colorful, diverse, and complex ceramics, including Chenghua-era Ming cups with playing infant motifs, the Wanli-era Ming garlic vase with a famille verte (five-color, or wucai) dragon motif, and the Qianlong-era Qing blue-glazed famille rose wine vessel symbolizing peace, outlined in gold.\"-- From foreword [page vi]."@en ;
