schema:abstract "Dirck van Crimpen, representing Master Cornelis Boscoop, organist, and Brechgen Jacopsdr, widow of Master Claes Bout, fellow organist, sues Haesgen Willemsdr with her guardian, about the contract for Claes Bout to train Haesgen’s son, Gerryt Heynricxz, to become an organist. When Claes Bout became sick, Cornelis Boscoop took over as teacher, which he continued to do after Claes died. On 12 December last, the plaintiffs met with the defendant at her house together with her brother, Jan Willemsz, who was her guardian in this case; and they agreed to continue to stop the tuition, but through intervention of other people they came to an agreement, that Cornelis Boscoop would obtain the agreement of the dean and canons of the St. Pancraskerk in Leiden that Cornelis could teach Gerryt on the Hooglandsekerk organ, just as Claes had been doing; that Cornelis would teach Gerryt to play as well as he could from written scores, for a period of six years, teaching him everything he himself knew and could do, without omitting anything; and that Gerryt should come to Delft where Cornelis now lives, for Gerryt to learn to play, as often as he could be away from the Hooglandse Kerk organ; and that Cornelis would teach Gerryt and write down scores for him everything that Cornelis would be playing after these six years. In response, the defendant agreed to pay to Cornelis Boscoop 16 Karolus guldens per year for six consecutive years. The death of either Cornelis Boscoop or Gerryt Heynricxz would annul the contract, but payment would be required according to the length of time of tuition. The plaintiffs demand that the defendant keep to that agreement or pay 200 Karolus guldens, plus costs. On 18 June, the magistrates, after examining all evidence, absolved the defendant from the claim." ;
